The Trustless Computing Association is a non-profit established in 2015, headquartered in Geneva, with main operational office in Rome, Italy.

Our mission is to promote the development of global intergovernmental standards, agencies and organizations suitable for the timely, democratic, federal and efficient governance of digital communications and Artificial Intelligence, in both the civilian and governmental sectors.

Our main program is the Harnessing AI Risk Initiative (HARI), launched last June 2023, and a Coalition for a Baruch Plan of AI (CBPAI). CBPAI was convened on June 24th and announced on September 10th, 2024, as the new primary vehicle to advance the Initiative’s core aims and methods, via an open and participatory coalition of NGOs and states. Till March 2023, our activities centered around the promotion of a Trustless Computing Certification Body.

Our activities span across leading research, scholarly publications, two influential conference series, the Free and Safe in Cyberspace conference series, held in 11 editions in 3 continents, and the Harnessing AI Risk Summit series, to be held in its 1st edition on November 28-29th, 2024, after two Pre-Summits.

Our approach to IT and AI safety, security and accountability ensuring democratic control, security and safety of digital communications is centered on the Trustless Computing Paradigms, a collection of open, time-proven and battle-test IT security paradigms and socio-technical mechanisms, derived from the military sector.

Our approach to treaty-making for the digital domain draws inspiration from history’s most effective and democratic model, such as the intergovernmental constituent assembly that established the US federal constitution.

Our work is supported by prestigious advisors and board members, and by the members of the Coalition for a Baruch Plan for AI, that we launched last September 10th, 2024, as well as by experts, policymakers and NGOs that have participated to our activities, research initiatives, and events to champion the cause of trustworthy, democratic, and secure IT and AI systems via our initiatives.

Testimonials and Reviews

Richard Falk “Without bringing into being international procedures of effective regulation and accountability AI will almost certainly fall beneath the sway of dark, dangerous, and exploitative forces and deprive humanity of its potential liberating benefits”

Elisabetta Trenta ”Only a global effort to set the value limits for the application of AI will make it the greatest opportunity for humanity. Otherwise, it will be the greatest danger because it enables all the others.”

David Wood “The unprecedented power of forthcoming new AI applications, and the associated risks of catastrophe if these applications move further beyond our understanding and control, demands an unprecedented ongoing pragmatic collaboration between the individuals, organizations, and nations of the Earth, despite our multiple different worldviews. “
